  1. 1. Definitely. Excited to see a change from “How can this team have a good year” to “How can this team do even better?” with the depth growing on both sides of the ball.

    2. Stephen Williams. Provided he stays healthy it looks like he’s got good separation and awareness skills for the kind of big plays he made tonight.

    3. Mawoya, if I got his name right, and Jaye Howard. A lot of good movement into the San Diego backfield. I think Mawoya won himself more than a few fans tonight.

    4. Really looks like it’s something that would be best ended immediately. T-Jack knows the system better and looked comfortable back there. Pressure’s not on him to carry the team this time, he’s not injured and he definitely has more to work with. A spot for a 3rd QB would be better used keeping one of the bubble players, possibly among those who had a good showing today.

    5. Even for the first preseason game, it was good to get a glimpse at who to watch for the next few weeks. Liked the intensity from the 2nd and 3rd D.

  2. seahawksteven777 says:

I’m a little disappointed in the starting offense and defense to start out the game. Maybe I was expecting too much but against the Chargers? C’mon, should have been easy to stop their offense and all.

  3. 1.Yes

    2. Who impressed you on offense?
Alvin Bailey never played tackle in college. He played LG and RG. He just played 1/2 at Left Tackle against NFL players and held his own, even dominated on a few plays. This kid is a talent. And of course Kearse and Williams at WR both showed up.

    3. Who impressed you on defense?
Mayowa, of course. Williams, Hill, and Jaye Howard all flashed skills. And Bradford is a gamer. Thurmond and Blackmon both looked good as PR/KR.

    4. Did you see anything from the back-up QB candidates that changed your opinion of the competition?
TJack deserves to be on a Seahawks team that is actually full of good players, and this time he is healthy too. The much-maligned TJack will have the last laugh. He’s a tough guy and I like him.

    5. How much do you really take from the first preseason game?
We showed we had depth. Our 2s and 3s torched their 2s and 3s. Our starters barely showed up.

  4. TJack looked good. Maybe we can trade him to the Bills for another draft pick.

  5. Nomdeguerre says:

Starters were lackluster, but our starting quarterback is such a gamer. Without the starting center, tight-end, and receivers and only a cursory appearance by Lynch, I am not surprised the starting offense had no rythm.

  6. bbnate420 says:

    1. It’s up there. Last year I was looking forward to the preseason games a lot due to the need to see who would come out on top of the QB battle. There are battles this year as always, but the starting QB battle trumps anything else.

    2. Michael was impressive. Especially since he’s fairly new to the ZBS system. Impressive burst. Also did a nice job of picking up the blitz on one play. TJack looked great. Made a couple of great deep throws and seemed to be going through his progressions better than I remember in 2011. WR Williams looked impressive. He probably is the frontrunner for the 5th WR spot right now. Kearse looked good. I think he has the 4th WR spot right now, especially since the 4th active WR has to contribute on ST. Bailey and Willson looked like they could contribute in 2013.

    3. Schofield and Mayowa brought impressive pressure. I was more impressed with Schofield as it came against better competition. Bradford played very well, especially in the run game. Looks like he is a capable backup. Will ST be enough to keep Farwell around? Hill and Bennett brought inside pressure. Maxwell looked very impressive. I’d bet on 6 CBs making the team right now. Sherm, BB, Winfield, WT3, Maxwell and Lane. Red looked quick. Smith had a very nice blitz.

    4. I already favored TJack, but he definitely looked more impressive.

    5. It definitely has it’s importance, mainly for the roster bubble guys. Winning or losing doesn’t mean much.

  7. Skavage says:

1.Yes, it’s only preseason. But how much were you anticipating this game? More than in years past?

Yes, mostly because the offseason felt really long.

    2. Who impressed you on offense? – T-jack and Williams.

    3. Who impressed you on defense? – The entire D-line. Lots of pressure. But we should’ve had a few more sacks imo.

    4. Did you see anything from the back-up QB candidates that changed your opinion of the competition? Quinn’s accuracy is terrible on pot routes. Abd deep outs not much better.

    5. How much do you really take from the first preseason game? Lots. The competition continues tomorrow!

  8. Sarcasticus says:

Just like last year, the biggest thing that stands out is the depth. Seattle’s second, third, and fourth stringers are better than the opponents and it really shows.

It is really hard to read anything into what the starters did since they (1) didn’t play much and (2) played vanilla schemes/plays.

    I though Howard looked good.

  9. sluggo42 says:

Was dying for this game along with everyone. This off season was longer than normal due to our expectations this season, and intense micro-analysis of every aspect of the team.

Offense- wow, CM was a solid workhorse, it seemed he was just about to break loose every time he touched the ball. Baily was solid, tJack and Stephen Williams of course, Kearse too. I was hoping to see Luuuuke do more, but it was ok, Coooooper H. Made a nifty extended grab too.

Defense? First string not too much unfortunately up front. I didn’t like the way they couldn’t stop their running plays. Don’t know if it was scheme or lack of starters or what… Bradford and Morgan had rough beginnings .
Second and third teams dominated, which shows superior depth.

T-jack looked solid, but Quinn wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. We may actually be able to get something for him if he can continue to not suck horribly throu preseason, with injuries to other teams qB’s.
But in short, TJack, welcome home mate!

This game meant more to the bubble guys obviously, but for me it was what the dr ordered. We finally got a small taste of football again and it was delicious no? Perhaps we can stop with the in-fighting as we actually have something to discuss other than snipping at each other

    Final analysis:
The team is deep, tJack is back, cristin M is gunna be a fantastic backup to the beast, and I’m not worried about WR depth anymore…

  10. Vegas56 says:

    1. Yes, and watching the SoCal feed on cable with the Charger announcers (Fouts as color guy) was only a tad annoying…not as much as it would have been with other teams. San Diego just can’t help being laid back, even when it comes to football.

    2. & 3. Williams first, then Kearse (even though he’s a damn Husky…sorry, I’m a Coug). And give TJ his props, he looked accurate and in command. Michael was very good…tough. Haushka’s near miss from 61 was damned entertaining for a kick. The return teams had some serious spark and the defense was solid, even though they weren’t exactly competing against a juggernaut. Mawoya was the individual on defense that most impressed, with Thurmond close behind.

    4. How can you take the backup from TJ if he comes ready o play like he was last night? He looks right now to be an absolute lock for backup.

    5. It was a good scrimmage to test out some unknowns and see how they approach the game. I have no doubt information was gleaned by the Hawk staff that will be useful in decision making in the coming weeks.

  11. 1.Yes, it’s only preseason. But how much were you anticipating this game? More than in years past?

Yes- I am excited about who might step up- 2nd stringer have chance to earn start, 3rd to 2nd… Etc and they know it. They want to play!!!!!!

    2. Who impressed you on offense?
All the RB’s – they all had decent runs. I saw Ware and Coleman with some nice blocking and catches out of the back field. Overall Impressed since I know what Lynch, Turbin, MRob bring. IMO the deepest group in the NFL now- although I might be a little biased

    3. Who impressed you on defense?

I can’t believe nobody mentioned lotetiuallljdhfhdu… Or however you spell his name – guy has wheels and a nose for the play. Although I think he will need to bulk up to play significant time – which could hurt his speed.

    4. Did you see anything from the back-up QB candidates that changed your opinion of the competition?

Tjack should win it but I felt that Quinn looked better than McCoy in the whiner game.

    5. How much do you really take from the first preseason

Bunches for the guys who were getting a chance to prove they belong on this team. The top 45 guys or so are set. Those last 8 are gonna be a dog fight!!!!!!

  12. DanielleMND says:

1.Yes, it’s only preseason. But how much were you anticipating this game? More than in years past?

Much anticipation, the most since the first preseason game of 2006.

    2. Who impressed you on offense?

Stephen Williams, Christine Michael, and T-Jack.

    3. Who impressed you on defense?

John Lotulelei, Byron Maxwell, Jaye Howard, and Benson Mayowa.

    4. Did you see anything from the back-up QB candidates that changed your opinion of the competition?

No. Since T-Jack was re-signed, I’ve felt he was the clear #2. Quinn looked a little better than expected, though.

    5. How much do you really take from the first preseason game?

We already know who most of the starters will be, so we get to see those fighting either to be a starter or to be depth.
