Well, hallelujah. Didn’t want to see any of those 3 blogs go down.

  2. Hooray!!! That’s awesome news!!!

  3. Thank you so much TNT! My lurking continues!

  4. Dukeshire says:

What?! AWESOME! That is some incredible news to the day. Thank you

  5. Dukeshire says:

    to *start*…

  6. bbnate420 says:

    Yes, thank you, TNT.

  7. Well done, TNT.

  8. rynehawk says:

Woohoo! Thank goodness. Not many places to get this kind of information, and definitely nothing locally.

  9. That is superb! Many sincere thanks.

  10. Yahooo thats great!!!!

  11. CharlieOredigger says:

I have lurked on this blog daily since early in the Sando days. (first post ever on any blog) I am glad that they have apparently changed their minds. I do not know how I would waste my days if I did not have the links, insight, ridiculous rants, and comedic relief that follows, that this blog provides. I will probably never post again, but I couldn’t let this Christmas Miracle go without a comment. Keep up the good work Eric, Dave, Ryan, and the rest of you Rabid Seahawks Fans. I will continue to be watching and recommending this blog to all fans of the Hawks.

    Go Seahawks!

  12. Newborough says:

Best news I’ve had so far today! As an out-of-country (Sweden) Seahawk fan, who views this blog as having the most knowlegeable/ entertaining commenters, I’m so glad it’s going to continue as before.

Eric, I hope you (and Dave) are going to be allowed by TNT to spend the same amount of time and effort on the blog, keeping it up to the usual high standard?

Looking forward to the game tonigt on NFL Game Pass and the right result too, to round off a good day

  13. tchristensen says:

I look forward to Seahawks insider every morning. Great news! Thanks Eric!

  14. GeorgiaHawk says:

    Yahooo!

My girlfriend won’t be charging me afterall! Now what do I do with my new girlfriend?

    Keep them both I guess.

  15. wazzulander says:

Great news! This didn’t happen out of thin air. I’m sure Eric or someone must have been really been pushing this hard, a big thank you to that person.

I guess we will probably still be limited to 15 views for actual trib articles, so all non-subscribers need to be sure not to waste any on non-seahawk articles, and save them for ones by Eric and Dave :-)

  16. Good/great news!

  17. princeaden says:

Happy news !! It’s refreshing to know the bigger Company that owns the Tribune went along with this and did the right thing. Well done .

  18. I can understand everyone’s feelings of thankfullness for not having to pay to read the blog here. But the other side of the coin is a simple fact…

Newspapers need a way to generate more revenue in order to survive. And the popularity of this blog means it would be one of the better revenue streams in a digital subscription based environment.

If you think about it for a moment you start to realize how the very technology that provides us with this blog, is also the same technology that is slowly killing the traditional newspaper business. Most of us have seen Eric forced to take non-paid furloughs every year, and that is a direct result of a decrease in revenue for TNT.

I also fully understand that charging us to read and particpate in this blog would likely lead to a dramatic decrease in participation. So let me offer this as a contributing solution to continue participation in this blog for free…

Everytime you come here, take one minute…(or even less) and click on one of the ad links. You don’t have to buy anything or even read the ad it takes you to. It’s the click on the link that is measured as a positive metric. That simple gesture of clicking on an ad link will help increase the generated revenue to TNT and indirectly (or directly) help us continue to have this blog for free.

Ok, stepping down from my soapbox now. :)

  19. hawkfaninoklahoma says:

was a little ridiculous charging 4x what espn charges their paywall material.

  20. And I had already plotted the months I would subscribe and the months I wouldn’t:)

  21. montanamike2 says:

    Great news, thanks Eric!
    I’ll try that skavage.

  22. confucious says:

Will do Skavage (Eric) lol. Good Point. Thanks to those responsible for this bloggership.

  23. Eric/Dave/Ian etc… I just tried my own “medicine” and both links for Xfinity seem to be broken. They take you to a “page not found” error message.

But I’ll try a different ad now! :)

  24. Thank you, TNT. All of us in other states rely on this blog for our “Insider’ news.

  25. bbnate420 says:

Good point, Skavage. I have been trying to remember to that more often now. It only takes 0.0001% of the time some of us are on this blog. ;-)

I think the uproar over paying was more about the amount than actually paying for it. They could’ve charged some reduced amount if you only wanted access to certain blogs and articles. I’ll stop there as I don’t necessarily want to give them ideas.

  26. trout_hound says:

Although a colossal time waster all year long for me, this is welcome news indeed on a snowy Sunday morning. Thanks, TNT. I’d even welcome more ads on the blog if it means more revenue for you guys. I bet links to deals on gear at the Hawks pro shop would even produce some sales.
Now on to Toronto for a total Bills beat down.

  27. Dukeshire says:

Great point and well said, Skavage.

  28. Ditto to all the thanks above! That is great news. I too will try the clicking.

  29. edstang45 says:

Very good news!!!! I enjoy the blogs, and really is only site I visit daily. I like all the opinions of the sometime lunatic fans and Eric, Dave, and Ryan seem to be great fans too. Their daily reports and stories feed my need. Also thanks to Greg Johns over on the Mariners insider. I will do my share hitting the adds also. Have a Merry Christmas guys

  30. It’s also a smart move as Eric’s Morning Links will also serve as continued advertising to the masses for the digital subscription.

  31. Ian Swenson says:

@Skavage Thanks for the note on the ads. I forwarded that to the advertising folks.

  32. Ewalters7354 says:

This is what makes this the best blog ever! Now lets get a win!!

  33. I’d certainly click on an ad link to help generate revenue for this site, thanks for the suggestion Skavage. Everyone understands the need to generate revenue and though small, if all of us it do it it will start to add up.

  34. Great news! Think I’ll take Skavage’s advice as well.

  35. SandpointHawk says:

    Great news…

  36. Thank you News Tribune! I don’t post by choice, but have read here going all the way back to John Clayton and appreciate the efforts put out by all the sportswriters (except the lazy guy that preceded Eric who went to SI)on this blog. Back to lurking and Thanks again for waiving the fee for the 3 blogs.

  37. Palerydr says:

Great news! Thx TNT you made a lot of folks very happy today after the sadness from Friday. I cannot imagine my own reaction if my boys had been gunned down like that. Hopefully all involved will eventually get peace from this tragedy(Sandy Hook Elementary School) but I doubt it.

  38. crunchmeister says:

    Well played TNT.

  39. Great to hear – and thank you.

  40. I will be checking the adds very often. I will try to make a habit of it every time I come here.

  41. sluggo42 says:

    I think this is fantastic!
The only one who will be bummed is Matty Huett of addicts!

  42. This is good news, it is a way for old Tacomans like me to follow what is happening back in the old haunts. The ad clicking is a good idea to help the revenue be able to maintain the service here. I follow the Trib just to keep up with my old home town – in news as well as sports – and I may need at some point to pony up the subscription fee because I will likely read more than 15 articles outside of the sports blogs. It is a tough business environment for old newspapers and they either have get creative…and in a lot of cases they need to get better – to make it in a new information world. At the same time, maintaining the old traditional standards is something they have to be careful about…no one needs another screaming tabloid.

  43. jawpeace says:

SWEET! I was going to miss the blog as I was not going to pay for the NT as the only thing I read on it is Hawk news.

  44. That’s awesome, thanks Eric.

  45. Thanks to all responsible! The TNT has always led in Seahawks coverage. I’ll click on some ads – may even buy something. This blog is a community. Maybe we can think of some way of supporting the TNT as a community.

  46. Hot Damn!

IT worked! It really worked! I was hoping all the pressure myself and others brought to bear wouldnt fall on deaf ears! I almost cant believe they listened!

    Cool Beans!

  47. WOOT!! I am now going to extend my regular subscription!!

  48. stingray77 says:

    Thank you TNT !

  49. bulldog80 says:

This is fantastic news. Thank you TNT

  50. bbnate420 says:

We don’t really know for sure if it worked or not, but I suspect it did. These blogs must be their biggest earners as far as ad revenue goes. Let’s make it even better by always clicking the ads! A very small price to pay for the excellent, free forum we get. I am happy.

  51. bbnate420 says:

Although the xfinity ads still lead nowhere! Not sure if that affects their revenue?

  52. Southendzone says:

Hell yeah! Maybe just hit us with more pop-up ads or something to even things out.

Why no beer pop up ads? That seems like something that would be well suited to the Hawks blog community.
