In Fairbanks, Alaska I have a Restaurant/bar, goes by name of Roundup Roadhouse & Saloon. In the bar I have a several TV’s all on direct TV. On the 80″ I will always show the Hawks games and set up the Steelers on the 32″ or less. Anyways gonna make it my personal policy to get anyone in a Seahawks jersey their first beer.

Fairbanks is just a few miles up road, come on up,

  3. bird_spit says:

Next time I’m in Fairbanks, I’m heading for Doug’s bar.

  4. Helenahawk says:

Hawks finish 15-4, Super Bowl champs defeating the Stealers in theKarma is a b*tch rematch.

  5. FairbanksDoug says:

Please come on in, have some beer. I hung the 12th man flag out front hoping to bring in the local Seahawks fans. I would like to get a bigger flag cause that flag looks a lot smaller out front then I had hoped.

  6. FairbanksDoug says:

I haven’t convinced my wife yet how nice a 12′ x 24′ mural of the Seahawks logo would look painted on the side of the building.

That sentence structure looks weak, I hope I can build a business better then I can write a sentence?

  7. kinger12 says:

    11-5! Just sayin

  8. Wow that sports bar sounds awesome Doug, living here in Arizona I wish I could make that bar my second home. Go Seahawks and crush the cards.

  9. Oh yeah I’m sure a lot of you have seen this already, but according to Sando it looks like Beanie Wells may have a tough time on game day as well. Whatever it takes, I know the Seahawks defense will be fired up and coming after skelton through that weak o-line, and lets see if a little pressure can make him through a few picks to the Legion of Boom. Better keep Wells on the sideline, cause they will hit him hard if he tries to run. Oh man this could be great and it could be a grind, can’t wait until sunday. Hopefully it’s the start of something great. Goooooo Seahawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  10. bbnate420 says:

I think the Hawks will go 10-6, but not convinced it will be good enough to win the division. I think we probably have to sweep the Whiners to win the division outright at 10-6. Should be a wildcard.

  11. GeorgiaHawk says:

FairbanksDoug- I was kind of hoping that you were going to say Fairbanks Louisiana, or Fairbanks Indiana. Lol.
Funny how I never made it up to Alaska in all my 25 years in Washington.
When I was 10 my father said we were going up their for vacation but he fooled us and we ended up back in Minnesota to see our relatives instead. Cruel joke.

Good luck with your bar and if/when I do make it up that way it will be my first stop. Maybe my last stop too. Lol.

  12. FleaFlicker says:

10-6 and is a real possibiilty. I only give us less than 50/50 odds vs New England. Everybody else, we’ve got a good shot. Breaking it down with my own handicapping:

@ Arizona Probability of win: 0.65
vs Dallas Probability of win: 0.5
vs Green Bay Probability of win: 0.5
@ St Louis Probability of win: 0.8
@ Carolina Probability of win: 0.7
vs New England Probability of win: 0.4
@ San Fran Probability of win: 0.5
@ Detroit Probability of win: 0.5
vs Minnesota Probability of win: 0.8
vs NY Jets Probability of win: 0.8
@ Miami Probability of win: 0.7
@ Chicago Probability of win: 0.7
vs Arizona Probability of win: 0.7
@ Buffalo Probability of win: 0.6
vs San Fran Probability of win: 0.65
vs St Louis Probability of win: 0.8
    ============================================
    Season Total Expected Wins: 10.3

  13. GeorgiaHawk says:

BTW- My apologies for getting way off track on the last thread. I blame Duke or Chuck for not being there to inject a little bit of common sense.

  14. GeorgiaHawk says:

FleaFlicker- I think 10-6 is doable, providing we don’t get nailed by injuries like the last few years.
I think two huge keys for this game and beyond is the continuity of our special teams, ( they just killed us in the first game last year ) and the maturity of our young players in regards to the silly fouls and mistakes that can be drive killers.

I don’t want them to sacrifice their aggression though.
Can’t wait for the game. I don’t care what the score is, ( 10 to 9 is fine ) just bring us a win.

  15. 7-9 is my prediction but 8-8 is the ceiling.

  16. FleaFlicker says:

RADEoN: way to lob that turd into the punchbowl. Can’t just rain on everybody’s parade without a little color. Curious to hear why you think this team will finish the same record as last two years.

I’d argue that glaring deficiencies (QB, O-Line, RB depth) are much improved in the last six months. Our D was pretty solid last year, it just felt like they spent 59 minutes per game on the field. If you make the assumption that our defense simply matches last year’s, don’t you think the upgrades on offense are worth at least two or three more wins?

  17. Soggybuc says:

I really hope the Rams stink it up this year. not because I hate the rivals or Fisher and Bradford but if they have a bad year it really increases the odds that they might move back to LA and that’s where they belong.
That would put the NFC west teams all, well in the west and would be a boon to all the teams in the division over the ridiculous travel time associated with the Rams in ST.Louis.

  18. psoundpowerhouse says:

If this “hyped” up defense can become a #1 ranked unit.
Seattle could bring a home a lombardi trophy.

  19. BigBlew says:

    With Flynn 10-6
    With R.W 5-11
The NFC West is nolonger a cake walk as it has been for the past few years. Teams league wide are more equal today then they have been. there have been Quarterbacks with much greater skill then R.W who historicaly performed well as rookies. This is a scary time to be a Hawks fan. Most in the reagion are so hungry for a Champion that their vision gets a bit rosey with a 4-0 preseason. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Arizona 12 Hawks 9 Yep Kickers will rule the day.

  20. Inconsistencies in the offensive line (the starting right guard is a converted DT), depth at receiver, questions at linebacker (Leroy Hill’s health, Bobby Wagner who I think will be a great player, he’s just unproven), Marshawn got his payday, and lastly, I really don’t think Russell Wilson is going to be as great as advertised. You can talk about how great he was during preseason, but very rarely is that a measurement of NFL success. Someone in his shoes is giving 100 percent effort when everyone else is giving 60.

In his start against the Chiefs: 13/19, 185 YDS, 2 TD

Graham Harrell’s start against the Chiefs: 13/15, 223 YDS, 2 TD

Does this mean that they should now have a QB controversy in Green Bay?

I mean in Rodgers starts, he was only 6/11 for 59 yards, 1 TD against CLE, 2/8 for 16 yards and 1 int, and 12/22 for 154 yards and 1 int.

This means Graham Harrell should certainly be in consideration for the starting nod, in Pete Carroll’s system.

A legitimate NFL coach would have had Flynn building chemistry with his teammates, and getting comfortable in this system, and building a championship team around a guy who had high levels of success in his two previous regular season NFL starts. Until Carroll can post a winning season and a legitimate contender, I will feel this way. You look at coaches with rings like Tomlin, McCarthy, Coughlin, Belichick, and coaches with great success like the Harbaugh brothers, you don’t see these coaches playing pranks, or posting on twitter.

Again, I’m not saying it’s NOT going to work, but you look at the coaches who coach the contenders, and Carroll, and you can tell the loose system Carroll runs isn’t the mold that builds championship caliber teams. Now, if this team wins a few playoff games (and I don’t even care about super bowls – that’s not the only yardstick of success), then my mind will change… but until then, you know where I stand.

  21. BigBlew, I don’t think you’re correct on the score/outcome of the game, but everything else is spot on.

    Remember, Mora’s 5-11 campaign started with a 4-0 preseason.

  22. GeorgiaHawk says:
  23. Thats funny stuff GeorgiaHawk thanks for the link

  24. Soggybuc says:

    LOL, good one Georgia.

  25. Sparky12 says:

    Georgia- LOL!!!!!!

  26. sluggo42 says:

Looks like a few trolls to me…

Even if the entire planet knew we would be lucky to win one game this year, I would personally be thinking 16-0 at the beginning of the year, and would be shocked on a weekly basis at each loss, chock full of reasons that we just last again…

But this year IS different. Dane-Ja isn’t a typical rookie, the Defense IS sick. The running game IS sick. We have some killer WR’s (altho the media likes to call them suspect).

The other thing was just proven Wensday (Wednesday) evening. Just because the East-biased world ranks the entire east ahead of us, that doesn’t mean jack-shit come game day, and there will be a serious load of smashmouth beatdowns going on in Hawktown every Sunday for the next 20 weeks.

It will be a glorius year for the Hawkfan, so pop open your beer, get your grill hot for some meat, protect your women and children, and get ready for some football.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, your 2012 World Champions…

    THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

FairbanksDoug i have future plans to go to Alaska with my cousin Dave.
It might not be for a year or two but it’s gonna happen. I have a German school friend in Canada who married a Haida native and lives in the queen charlotte islands, i really wanted to go there but the ferry ride is thousands! I don’t know why but Germans love natives. They haven’t allowed any commecial fishing there and the fish are prolific and huge! I’ll probably keep my 5th wheel on base but Alaska has a lot of bases. I’m from BC and Montana so i like the cold, but my California cousin is somewhat of a pussy, but he goes a little further than his norm with some coaxing.

  28. Radeon the Harbaugh Brothers great success?
PLEASE one has had a some success in the NFL the other inherited a super talented team and got lucky his first year wouldnt consider him a GREAT success.
GREAT is turning a poor team into a contender not just stepping in and taking the glory

  29. Georgia… I didn’t laugh.

sluggo, you really need to learn what a troll is before you open your mouth, tool.

MauMau, while that’s certainly debatable, Jim was able to bring the best out of the bust Alex Smith. Is Smith worth his draft pick? No. But the draft when Kaepernick was picked, we were all sure Smith was gonna get the axe and CK was the QB of the future.

Trust me guys, I’m really not blinded by fanhood, and I’m being realistic. Do I want the hawks to go 13-3 and win the super bowl? Absolutely. Will I consider the season a failure if they make the playoffs and lose the first game? Hell no, that’s how young teams start. Do I want Russell Wilson to be in the same sentence as Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Manning? F’in right… but I’m just being real. If you’re expecting a super bowl run from a rookie 3rd round QB, you’re really setting yourself up for a let down. Please don’t let my realism/pessimism bring you down, but when you expect the best and get the worst, it’s a lot worse than when you expect the worst and get the best.

  30. sluggo42 says:

Radeon – If I am a tool, then you are a sourpuss, Eyore negative dude.
You want to paint a bleak picture so if it happens you can jump in the air and scream I told you so, but if they do well, you’ll be jumping up on the bandwagon.

Have at it Mr. both-way Billy, spew your negative “reality” all you want, but when they start kicking ass, don’t come jumping in on the bandwagon.

You’re probably the guy who cursed Santa Claus when you were a kid when you didn’t get your pony huh…?

  31. FairbanksDoug says:

montana – what can I do to help you out with that venture?

  32. “Please don’t let my realism/pessimism bring you down, but when you expect the best and get the worst, it’s a lot worse than when you expect the worst and get the best.”

It’s just a difference in life philosophy – and I get it – keep your expectations low, and you will be disappointed less often.

But . . .it’s been a looong off-season, and, really a long few years for our guys, so we can be excused for having a bit of maybe overly optimistic feelings going into a new season. Plus, while your concerns about RW are legit, he’s still the biggest reason for excitement/optimism player-wise that we’ve had since ’07.

Really disagree with about only one thing, your contention that Carroll is not “a legitimate NFL coach” – - I think Carroll and Schneider have done a helluva job turning around the personnel and attitude of this team. Nobody takes us lightly these days, and certainly, nobody think they’re in for a light-hitting, finesse game. If his ballsy QB gambit pays off – we’ll be contending for the playoffs every year for a good long while.

  33. raymaines says:

Keeping our sports expectations low is just a Seattle way of life. It’s what we do.

  34. Um…I didn’t vote because you limited the team to 10 wins. Last I checked, 11 or more wins is a possibility.

  35. sluggo42 says:

“Um…I didn’t vote because you limited the team to 10 wins. Last I checked, 11 or more wins is a possibility.”

    Right on Rapture!

  36. <—- Still looking for "undefeated" option.

RW can turn water to wine–I think we'll be good.

    ;)

  37. bbnate420 says:

RADEoN, you’re entitled to your opinion that the Hawks won’t be good this year. Could be. With that said, your analysis of RW’s and Graham Harrell’s play versus KC is just STUPID! RW played them in the 3rd preseason game. He played against KC’s starters the majority of the game. Herrell played them in the 4th preseason game, when the guys he played against are packing groceries right now. It’s called QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS. Try it someday. ;-)

  38. regardless, RW is a starter playing with starters, because of his success he had against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

regardless of the players, the schemes, defensively and offensively, are the same. Both quarterbacks, RW, and Harrell, were able to exploit them. I mean hell, the damn rams put up some serious numbers in week 2 against KC’s starters.
