Monday practice report: Evaluation time

The Seahwks went shells and shorts this afternoon, practicing for about an hour and a half.

Head coach Jim Mora said Seattle will go over the Raiders game plan on Tuesday, have a walkthrough on Wednesday and then get ready to play Oakland on Thursday.

Marcus Trufant (back), Walter Jones (knee), Chris Spencer (quad), T.J. Houshmandzadeh (soreness), Logan Payne (knee), Seneca Wallace (groin) and C.J. Wallace (ribs) sat out of this afternoon’s practice

Payne, Houshmandzadeh, Seneca Wallace and C.J. Wallace were on the sidelines during practice.

Hawks waive 4 players

The Seahawks got a jump on Tuesday’s deadline to cut down to 75 players by waving four players this afternoon. Kevin Brown, fullback Dan Curran, linebacker Shane Simmons and tight end John Tereshinski were waived, the team announced today.

Seattle now has 76 players currently on the roster including cornerback Marcus Trufant, who was placed on the PUP list by the Seahawks at the beginning of training camp

Final: Hawks 14, Chiefs 10

First the injury report. Safety C.J. Wallace had sore ribs and sat out the second half. Seneca Wallace suffered groin strain and gave way to third-string quarterback Mike Teel in the fourth quarter. Julius Jones suffered a chin bruise, but should be fine. Justin Forsett tweaked his ankle but should be fine. Offensive lineman Ray Willis has a thigh bruise.

Looks like all of the injuries were minor, but we’ll have another report on Monday when the team practices.

Hawks 14, Chiefs 10

The Chiefs inched closer with a 35-yard field goal by Ryan Succop. The field goal was set up by a 33-yard reception by Ashley Lelie down the left sideline over cornerback Kevin Hobbs. About 10 minutes left in the game.

Seahawks 14, Chiefs 7

The Seahawks opened up the second half with a nine-play, 74-yard drive punctuated with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck to John Carlson. The Seattle tight end had three catches for 50 yards on the drive.

Hasselbeck is done for the night.

Halftime: Chiefs 7, Hawks 7

Well, it wasn’t pretty but the Seahawks went into halftime tied at 7-all.

* Matt Hasselbeck has looked solid, besides the first throw of the game, a interception by Kansas City’s Brandon Flowers that was tipped at the line of scrimmage by Tyson Jackson. Flowers took it 28 yards for the score. Hasselbeck is 14-of-19 for 151 yards, a touchdown and a pick.

Chiefs 7, Seahawks 0

Well, that was quick. Matt Hasselbeck’s ball on the slant route to Deion Branch was tipped by defensive end Tyson Jackson and picked off by Brandon Flowers, who took it 28 yards for the score.

On the first play the Seahawks actually got a solid run from Julius Jones to the left side for five yards. Not the way you want to start the game. Let’s see how Seattle responds.

Matt Cassel has a leg injury, and his return is questionable.
