Mora speculation coming to an end

Apparently, Seahawks defensive backs coach Jim Mora sent a text message to the PI’s Jim Moore last night that said he is not a candidate for the Huskies coaching job — which is what everybody has been asking for all along, a simple clarification that he is not going to take that job.

The Seahawks have been obstinate in their stance that they will not address this situation because they announced in the offseason that Mora was the replacement for Mike Holmgren — even though neither Mora nor Holmgren was at that press conference.

Practice started a few mintues ago, I am heading there and I’ll see if anything else shakes out of the post-practice from this. Now that Mora has sent a text, effectively breaking his silence — self-imposed or team-imposed — we will hopefully hear something more concrete from the team itself.

This ultimately came down to Paul Allen’s feelings. He is a big financial supporter of the UW beyond athletics. Do you think the alumni is going go after one of Paul’s key people without first consulting with him? Mora realized this a long time ago and knew his decision was in stone when he committed to the Hawks.

Secondly, can we please move on and start talking about how bad this team is and start figuring out possible solutions for next year. For starters, how about identifying who our QB is going to be. Lastly, when is our idiot GM going to get in front of the microphone and talk about our issues.

The GM will come to the front after the season. Why cause any more distractions than there already are?

  3. He just did an interview the other day…what more do you realistically expect him to say?

  4. I say Holmgren for GM.

  5. Good, I’m glad he’s getting a second chance at the NFL gig. He would’ve been a great coach for the UDub, but I don’t think it would be a good time for him to join. Let someone get Udub ready for him to stay onboard for a long time after his NFL stint.

Now who was the one that said Mora was not leaving the Seahawks?

Oh, that’s right. It was CowboysP.

Thank you…. Thank you very much……

(please ignore the gloating…. its for NH2)

  7. doubledink says:

I like the team’s stance about not addressing this issue again.

The front office was simply affirming that it is important for leadership to say what they mean and mean what they say, and then say nothing. The next step is action. The message gets down through the organization that they are reliable.

I know that it may appear they have not been consistent with that in the past, say, with Hutch, but we really do not know what was actually said.

What will be interesting is will they be able to resist the temptation to act differently when the short term benefits encourage them to do so.

  8. For Mora to have taken the UW job would have not only been a financial mistake, but it would have also been risking career suicide. I’m relieved to see that he’s finally cleared the air for all of these whining and crying huskies fans, maybe now they’ll all shut up. I doubt it though. The local sports media need stories. So now we’ll get to listen to and read about all the chastising Mora’s about to receive for breaking his word.

  9. CowboysP says:

    Sekolah,
I think that you have most of it correct. Yes. It would have been a “career disaster” for Mora to even think about the Husky position. And he knew that. And I don’t think he would want it, now the he is the Seahawks HC for next season.

But the fact is, it isn’t the Huskies fans that are whining for Mora to take the Husky job. It is MANY of the Seahawks fans, who seem to NOT want Mora as the Seahawks HC next season. like NH2, so they were hoping that Mora would do the irrational, and pursue the Husky job.

And yes, many of the SEAHAWKS fans will attempt to keep this “rumor” going, until a new Husky coach is announced.

  10. nighthawk2 says:

Beyond the fact that I never said Mora was going to UW, shouldn’t you worrying about the Cowboys getting their ass kicked with Brad Johnson or Brooks Bollinger? Oh, that’s right, you’d have to really be a Cowboys fan to think about that instead of just a troll on all things Seahawks.

His Arrogantness the GM doesn’t give interviews unless a reporter is telling him how great he is. Paul Allen is so clueless and detached from what’s really going on with this team I doubt he even knows there’s a guy named Jim Mora on the staff.

  11. CowboysP says:

    Well lets see Nighthawk.
You don’t like most of the Seahawks players.
You don’t like the Seahawks new coach.
You don’t like the Seahawks GM (you REALLY don’t like him).
And now, you seem to dislike the Seahawks owner, too.

What do you like about the Seahawks? The Stadium? Cheerleaders? Help me out… I’m running out of options here…..

Maybe you need to find a new team to follow???
One that you like AT LEAST a couple things about….

  12. Maybe once we kick Philys ass on sunday all this non stop BS will come to a stop. OK…i’m being bit optimistic considering all our injuries. But i’ve never seen a team better at choking than Phily, they’re overated. key will be stopping Westbrook. Mcnabb is due for one of his usual self destruction game.

so if we pull it off, i guess we can expect all the bandwagon GM wanna bees back on board. lets hope the rams help us out this weekend and spank the cards too. hell isn’t Warner due for a self destruction game too.

  13. OutSydeDog says:

    High Five JR !!

I’m with you. Let’s go get ‘em.

    GO SEAHAWKS!!!
