After multiple days of rampant speculation that he will be the next head coach of the Washington Huskies, Seahawks coach-in-waiting Jim Mora finally put to rest all the unrest.

“I am not a candidate for the University of Washington coaching vacancy,” Mora said in a statement, which the Seahawks released. “I wish the university well with their search and the program nothing but sustained success in the future.”

At last.

Of course, now the speculation may start up about Keith Gilbertson.

A text message has one advantage. No follow up questions….

  2. Dukeshire says:

The boosters would never allow Gilby to come back, ever.

  3. nighthawk2 says:

Nick Saban said he wasn’t a candidate for the head coach job at Alabama too. Gilbertson? Did he get fired from an NFL job for saying he wanted to coach UW?

  4. kurtisballard says:

looks like mora is choosing a short term high salary, over a long term moderate salary.

  5. OutSydeDog says:

Mora is choosing to be the HC of one of the best franchises in the NFL. How much of a no brainer is that?

Saban is a so and so…. that’s why he did what he did.

The Mora comment about the UW being his “dream job” was long before his REAL “dream job” came to pass.

As for salary, after seeing players leaving here for more $ elsewhere (Josh Brown being the last one..and too many Mariners to count), why would you expect anything different when it comes to coaching? If I could earn twice the money at one company than another, where do you think I’d go to work? Where would you go?

As stated previously, many Seahawks fans (top of the list is NH2) seem to have an intense dislike of Ruskell, and anything associated with Ruskell, includeing Mora. They blame Ruskell, and now Mora for the 2008 season.

I actually have yet to hear anyof the Huskies fans say that they wanted Mora to leave the Seahawks and go to the Huskies, to save the program. Only Seahawks fans saying “Take him UW. You’re our only hope!”

ps. My opinion is the Ruskell is a good GM, and Mora will be a good HC for the Seahawks.

  7. Compaired to, whats his name, owner/GM/asst HC/towel boy of the Cowboys Ruskell is a saint. I do feel that ruskell will run over Mora at will.Thts something he couldn’t do over Holmgren.
I am one of those that don’t like ruskell, but he has done some good things.I feel he will tear down the Hawks, not build them up.

  8. CowboysP says:

    ok, jibo…..

I’m confused by what you said…
You said that Mora is a Saint (at least compared to JJ), but you feel “he will tear down the Hawks, not build them up”.

Plus, don’t the Hawks have 4 playoff wins with Ruskell as GM the last 3 seasons. The prior 20+ seasons, 0 playoff wins. Sounds pretty good to me.

It’s bad enough that someone with a “Cowboy” in is i.d. is posting a lot on a Seahawks blog (I presume you’re a Dallas fan?) but to have that is stalking a Seahawks poster is really creepy. Stalkers are most often deranged. Especially one that struts as an expert on the Hawks. And I agree, compared to the likes Jerkwad Jones, Matt Millen, what the Yorks have done to the 49ers, the Brown family nepotists at Cincinnati, and Phil Savage, yeah, even Ruskell looks pretty good compared to them. But that’s like saying Mark Cuban looks mature compared to Isaiah Thomas. Some crud is a little better than other crud.
