Newcomers arrive at UW for LEAP, summer school

It’s that time of year again, when incoming University of Washington freshmen athletes (and other newcomers) begin their participation in LEAP — the Learning Experience Achievement Program, designed to help “bridge” the transition between high school and college for student-athletes.

Anyway, below is a list of each incoming Huskies football player who is either participating in LEAP — freshmen only — or is otherwise enrolled in summer school. With the Huskies set to open Pacific-12 Conference play this week against visiting Arizona, UW quarterback Keith Price figured he’d send at text message to his good friend Marquis Flowers, a linebacker for the Wildcats.

“I told him, ‘We got you this week,’” Price said.

Flowers remembered sacking Keith Price in the third quarter of the Wildcats’ 52-17 drubbing of the Huskies last season. He forced Price to fumble on the play and recovered it himself.

Flowers thought he’d remind Price of his place.

“He sent me back a picture making me fumble,” Price said laughing. “I thought it was
