QB Troy Williams will transfer from Huskies football team; three others enroll

Quarterback Troy Williams, who will be a third-year sophomore in 2015, will transfer from the Washington Huskies football team, the school announced in a statement.

Williams appeared in five games in 2014 and made one start against Arizona State in place of Cyler Miles. He came to UW as a four-star recruit out of Narbonne High School in Harbor City, Calif., where he was an honorable mention Parade All-American as a senior. Read more »

It’s Wednesday, which means offensive coordinator Jonathan Smith was available to answer questions about the Huskies’ struggling offense for a few minutes. Here’s what he had to say.

(Can you get anything out of the ASU film?) “You definitely get some. There’s things for us to clean up. It’s 11-on-11 football, you can still get a lot from the film, and we’re hoping we continue to improve from that. Definitely the weather will be better on Saturday. I’ll be curious to see – we got good sun today, and there were some balls in the afternoon games Colorado has played, you can see in the second half of the UCLA game, that sun being a factor, so it was great we got to practice in that today.” Read more »

Five key storylines as Huskies ready for camp

With the Washington Huskies beginning preseason camp on Monday, let’s take a look at five key storylines that will be worth watching over the next three or four weeks.

1. Who gets the reps at quarterback?

UW coach Chris Petersen said at Pac-12 media days that third-year sophomore Cyler Miles won’t play against Hawaii, but made it clear that Miles is otherwise back in good standing with the team after his well-publicized offseason transgression. That means Miles — who was suspended throughout spring — will practice on Monday for the first time since the 2013 season ended. Read more »
