Know your enemy: A first look at the Oregon Ducks. Who will be their starting QB?

The Ducks  predictably beat Washington State on Saturday in Autzen. The score looks worse than it was.  Oregon was out of sync a little early and quarterback Darron Thomas, who was starting after missing the Colorado game with a knee injury looked rusty, throwing some interceptions. Chip Kelly even pulled Thomas and inserted back-up Bryan Bennett, who sparked the offense in the second half. Running back LaMichael James also started after dislocating his elbow a few weeks ago.

Know your enemy: Stanford safety Delano Howell out for Saturday’s game

 

Jon Wilner of the Mercury News reports that starting safety Delano Howell (above) – younger brother of former Husky linebacker Dan Howell - will not play in Saturday’s game because of a hand injury.

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian raved about the hard-hitting Howell and senior Michael Thomas, and what they allow Stanford to do defensively.

Wilner also writes that Stanford’s season begins with Saturday’s game.

Rather, it was the palpable sense that the Cardinal’s season starts now.

After dominating six second-rate opponents, Stanford enters the heart of its schedule with Saturday’s prime-time showdown against No. 22 Washington.
