Lorenzo Romar talks Bob Houbregs, freshman eligibility on KJR

Washington men’s basketball coach Lorenzo Romar was a guest on Sports Radio KJR yesterday with Elise Woodward and Bob Condotta.

Among the topics discussed: the death of UW legend Bob Houbregs, and the proposal by Pac-12 presidents that freshmen men’s basketball players be declared ineligible to play their first year.

Radio-palooza: Isaiah Thomas, Jim Shaw and me on KJR; Joe Lunard on 710

What do the former Husky hoop star, the UW assistant coach and I have in common? We were all on KJR talking hoops on Friday.

Isaiah talked about life in the NBA, guarding Kobe Bryant and other things. But the most interesting aspect was toward the end when he said that Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten should stay for another season.

Shaw tried to discuss what exactly went wrong last night in Eugene. He was disappointed by the Huskies inability to get up after getting knocked down early by the Ducks and mount some sort of a comeback to make it competitive.  He also previews OSU and calls them one of the best scoring teams in the Pac-12

Me? Well, I first had to admit I forgot my suitcase at home for this trip. And then I discussed some of the thoughts I posted on this morning’s blog, including the accusation by a couple of pro scouts that the Huskies are “soft.”

Couple that with a dislocated thumb that Ta’amu suffered a few weeks ago and he’s pretty beat up. But Holt said he was pretty certain that Ta’amu would be ready to play on Saturday.
