Andrew Andrews will represent UW in China as part of Pac-12 All-Star team

Junior guard Andrew Andrews has been selected as Washington’s representative on a Pac-12 All-Star team that will travel to China to play four games this summer.

Curtis High School alum and Tacoma native DaVonte Lacy will represent Washington State. The team will be coached by Utah coach Larry Krystokowiak. Former Oregon State coach Craig Robinson was originally selected to coach the team, but he was fired by OSU earlier this month.

According to a release from UW, the Pac-12 intended to include representatives from each member school, but the academic schedules at Oregon and UCLA conflicted with the tour dates. Utah (3) and OSU (2) are the only schools sending multiple players. Read more »

Ken Bone says there’s ‘a chance’ Tacoma native DaVonte Lacy could play against UW on Saturday

DaVonte Lacy has missed Washington State’s last six games — five of them losses — with a rib injury. And that came less than halfway into his first game back from an appendix issue that forced him to miss two games.

But WSU coach Ken Bone said Tuesday there’s at least a chance that Lacy, the Cougars’ leading scorer and a Tacoma native, will play Saturday against Washington.

Lacy is averaging 17.7 points per game, and the Cougars have sorely missed him as they’ve struggled mightily to score. The most recent evidence: a 25 percent shooting percentage during Sunday’s ugly loss to Oregon. Read more »

Husky assistant hoops coach Paul Fortier, WSU’s Davonte Lacy will represent US in East Asia

University of Washington assistant coach Paul Fortier will get his chance to lead a team as a head coach. The longtime Husky assistant will lead a group of players from the United States into East Asia to play a series of games against top professional teams.

“I’m looking forward to this experience of coaching this team and experiencing the culture of East Asia, a part of the world I have not seen,” Fortier said in a press release.
