Chris Polk to enter NFL draft

To no real surprise, the school announced today that junior running back Chris Polk will forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

“Chris had a terrific career at Washington and deserves the opportunity to move on to the next level,” Sarkisian said. “We wish him nothing but the best in what I’m sure will be a great professional career.”

Polk, a fourth-year junior from Redlands, Calif., has already earned his bachelor’s degree in American ethnic studies.

Fall camp, Day 2: Newcomers, including Potoa’e, making mark

I’m filling in for beat writer Todd Milles, who’s covering golf at Chambers Bay today. Practice ended a little less than an hour ago and I wanted to get up some notes before I start writing my report.

— For the second day in a row, coach Steve Sarkisian said he was impressed with freshman defensive tackle Sione Potoa’e.

“I feel like I saw Sione again,” Sarkisian said. “He’s powerful enough that he shows up, you see him.”

Sarkisian also singled out the play of cornerback Greg Ducre, linebacker Cooper Pelluer, linebacker Princeton Fuimaono and safety Sean Parker.

On the offense, Sarkisian liked what he saw from running back Chris Polk, who he believes might have stepped up his game because of the arrival of freshman tailback Deontae Cooper.
