Meet the new guy: Huskies hoop assistant Lamont Smith

With the football team off, we’ll shift to basketball.

Washington continued the revamping of its coaching staff when it hired Lamont Smith just before the team left for Europe. Smith previously worked with Lorenzo Romar as a grad assistant at Saint Louis from 1999-2001.

Live blog: Pac 12 men’s basketball media day

Larry Scott, Pac 12 Commissioner

Excited to announce that every single men’s basketball and football game will be televised next season on some network whether it is Fox, ESPN and the new Pac 12 Network (s).

He uses Derrick Williams as an example of the lack of national coverage last season, pointing to the fact that Williams didn’t truly emerge as national star until late in the season.

“This conference is a virtual pipeline into the NBA”

“We are going to be on the cutting edge of what conference can be. We are going to control our own media platform, paving the way in the future of college sports and broadcasting.”

Audio: Lorenzo Romar discusses Tony Wroten’s injury on KJR

Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar was on Mitch in the Morning talking about hoops and specifically the minor knee surgery that Tony Wroten underwent yesterday. Romar characterized it as even more minor than the knee surgery that Chris Polk had preseason that never kept him out of  game.  Wroten could be back practicing next week if everything goes well.
