Pac-12′s head of basketball officials Ed Rush resigns

Just days after a story broke that the Pac-12′s coordinator of men’s basketball officiating, Ed Rush, had told officials at the Pac-12 Tournament to target Arizona coach Sean Miller, he resigned.

The conference announced Rush’s resignation Thursday is effective immediately.

CBS Sports reported that Rush offered money and trips to officials who would give Miller a technical. Rush and the Pac-12 countered by saying the comments in a meeting of Pac-12 officials at the conference tournament were made in jest.

That’s the lingering feeling for Washington basketball after it was once again passed over by a top-tier prospect that strung the Huskies along to the end of the recruiting trail.

Five-star forward Aaron Gordon chose the Arizona Wildcats on Tuesday morning during media day at the McDonald’s All-American game in Chicago. Washington is thought to have finished second for the 6-foot-8, 215-pound 18-year-old from San Jose, Calif. Kentucky and Oregon were Gordon’s other options.

The Pac-12 put five schools into the tournament this year after having just two sneak in last season.
