Huskies receive verball commitment from Boise DE/TE

According to the Idaho Statesman, Timberline High junior defensive end/tight end Don Hill verbally committed to Washington on Friday.

Hill is 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds. He’s rated a three-star recruit by Scout.com. According to the Statesman, he had offers from Idaho, Washington State, Utah, Boise State and Wyoming.

He’s the third known verbal commitment for the Huskies’ 2014 class. The others are junior college defensive end Tui Talia of Diablo Valley, Calif., and wide receiver Rahshead Johnson of Long Beach.

Football game vs. Illinois will kick-off at 3 p.m.

Outside of the Boise State game, the Huskies fall non-conference schedule is expected to be an easy one. We now know the start for one of those expected cupcake games.

While we wait on other start times, kick-off for the game vs. Illinois in Chicago’s Soldier Field is set for 3 p.m. Pacific and 5 p.m. local Sept. 14.

No TV information yet. This is the only game that has a star time assigned to it thus far.

I have double-duty again tonight, so I’m in Safeco. Here are a few quick notes from football practice earlier today:

> Washington did its most scrimmaging of the spring today. Again we saw Kasen Williams was a nightmare to contain in single coverage and that DiAndre Campbell is in a good spot to be the other starting receiver, along with Jaydon Mickens.

> Cornerback Marcus Peters had a nice interception of a Cyler Miles pass.

> Running back Bishop Sankey sat out of practice because of “soreness,” according to Steve Sarkisian. Sankey was in full pads.

Sarkisian addresses Seferian-Jenkins’ current situation

Steve Sarkisian addressed how he is viewing the process with star tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who was charged with DUI following a March 9 accident in the U-District and is currently suspended from the team. Here’s what Sarkisian said Saturday:

The second portion of spring practice started Tuesday morning. Some quick-hitters:

> Lineman Erik Kohler was on the field for the first time since a knee injury ended his season in the second game last year. He took some snaps and played right guard. He became fatigued quickly, which is expected for someone coming off his injury. Colin Tanigawa is the next offensive lineman Washington hopes to get back, but that won’t happen until the fall.

Sarkisian: Seferian-Jenkins suspended indefinitely

Washington had another late-night practice Tuesday. I’m in Las Vegas, so our columnist Dave Boling was there. Steve Sarkisian said that star sophomore tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins will be suspended indefinitely and kept away from the team pending the investigation into his citation for allegedly driving under the influence last Saturday night.

Here are Sarkisian’s thoughts on the matter:
