2014 UW schedule previews: Arizona

Our series of opponent previews rolls along with a look at Washington’s 11th game of the season — a mid-November trip to Arizona.

WASHINGTON AT ARIZONA, Saturday, Nov. 15 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: The game will be played at Arizona Stadium, an on-campus facility that seats 57,400. It also now features the Lowell-Stevens football facility, a $72.3 million operations center on the north end of the stadium that opened in August 2013, at the height of the Pac-12′s facilities spending spree. After a brief hiatus for some July 4 weekend golfing, we’re back with the next installment in our series of Washington Huskies opponent previews. Next up: UCLA.

UCLA AT WASHINGTON, Saturday, Nov. 8 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: This game is at Husky Stadium, but UCLA obviously plays its home games in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, which is a good 26 miles northeast of the UCLA campus. The Rose Bowl seats 92,542.

UCLA LOCATION: Los Angeles, Calif., in the Westwood neighborhood (according to Wikipedia, Westwood’s population is 56,735. Los Angeles, however, is slightly larger) Read more »

Our series of Washington opponent previews continues with a look at the Huskies’ visit to Colorado.

WASHINGTON AT COLORADO, Saturday, Nov. 1 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: Colorado plays on-campus at Folsom Field, which seats 53,613 and opened in 1924. The largest crowd in Folsom Field history was 54,972 for a Sept. 3, 2005 game against Colorado State. The nearby Rocky Mountains provide a pretty spectacular view from inside (and outside) the stadium.

Our 2014 opponent previews continue with a look at Washington’s game against Arizona State, the reigning Pac-12 South division champions.

ARIZONA STATE AT WASHINGTON, Saturday, Oct. 25 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: This game is at Husky Stadium, obviously. ASU plays at Sun Devil Stadium, which seats 71,706.

ASU LOCATION: Tempe, Ariz. (Population 168,228)

ENROLLMENT: 59,382, one of the largest undergraduate enrollments in the country, according to U.S. News and World Report. Read more »

We continue our week-by-week look at Washington’s 2014 schedule with a preview of the Huskies’ Week 8 opponent: Oregon.

WASHINGTON AT OREGON, Saturday, Oct. 18 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: Autzen Stadium, capacity 54,000, one of the most revered venues in college football and somewhere the Huskies haven’t won since 2002.

OREGON LOCATION: Eugene, Ore. (population 157,986)

ENROLLMENT: 24,548 (20,808 undergraduates, 3,740 grad students) Read more »

WASHINGTON AT CALIFORNIA, Saturday, Oct. 11 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: This will be Washington’s second trip (corrected) to the renovated Memorial Stadium, which re-opened for the 2012 season after a $321 million renovation. It now seats 62,467 humans, down from the roughly 72,000 it seated prior to the remodel. Read more »

Our series of Washington opponent previews continues with a look at UW’s first Pac-12 game of the 2014 season — Stanford, the defending conference champion.

STANFORD AT WASHINGTON, Saturday, Sept. 27 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: This is obviously a UW home game at Husky Stadium, the Huskies’ fourth in a row before heading back on the road. Stanford’s home stadium is, simply, Stanford Stadium. Demolished and rebuilt prior to the 2006 season, it now seats 50,000. Fun fact: media park in the groves among the trees, across the street. Read more »

Our series of Washington opponent previews continues today with a look at Georgia State, whom the Huskies will host in Week 4. This is the final game of what is perceived to be a pretty easy early slate, one that should produce a 4-0 record. Stanford comes to Seattle in Week 5.

GEORGIA STATE AT WASHINGTON, Saturday, Sept. 20 (Kickoff time TBA)

STADIUM: Another home game at Husky Stadium, obviously, but in case you were curious, Georgia State plays its home games at the Georgia Dome. Its listed capacity for GSU games is 28,155. Read more »
