Per an announcement by his AAU coach Pasha Baines, 6-foot-6 point guard prospect Jermaine Haley from Burnaby, Canada, plans to play for the Washington Huskies.
It will be a while before Haley, a 2016 recruit, can sign a national letter of intent. But assuming he eventually does, he would give the Huskies a lengthy point guard to succeed Nigel Williams-Goss whenever he decides to pursue a pro career.
Here is Haley’s bio from Scout.com, as well as a short story about his commitment, which notes that he was also considering Memphis and Gonzaga.
Haley is headed to the Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain, where he plans to complete his high-school career.
If he signs, Haley would be the Huskies’ second Canadian recruit in three years — Tristan Etienne, a forward from Abbotsford, British Columbia, will be a freshman this upcoming season.
