This might come as a surprise, but the sporting world didn’t begin and end with the Seahawks’ victory over the 49ers in yesterday’s NFC championship game. Though that does get a mention in our morning links.

— As a few different recruiting sites reported yesterday, the Huskies football team picked up a “commitment” from Greg Gaines, a defensive line prospect from La Habra, Calif. Here’s a story about that from Scout.com, as well as Gaines’ bio. He’s rated a 3-star prospect.

— Here’s a trip report for a receiver prospect who visited UW this weekend.

— About that Seahawks game: former UW receiver Jermaine Kearse was one of Seattle’s many heroes yesterday, catching a 35-yard touchdown pass to put Seattle ahead in the fourth quarter.

— There was one Pac-12 basketball game yesterday, and it was another surprising loss for Oregon, which fell, 80-72, at Oregon State.
