FROM STANFORD — Here’s some of what Washington coach Lorenzo Romar had to say after the Huskies’ 79-67 loss at Stanford on Saturday night.

(On guarding Chasson Randle) “Well, he was able to score some quiet buckets in the first half. Second half, we didn’t do a very good job of keeping him out of the lane. He spun on us, he got in the lane. We didn’t do a very good job of it. He’s a heck of a player when he gets going. He’s tough to deal with. He did a good job scoring.”

(On Randle scoring like that making it harder to defend bigs) “It makes it hard. I thought our guys did a decent job of defending those guys with our lack of size. But we were at a size disadvantage the entire game. I thought Shawn Kmep Jr. and Desmond Simmons gave us some really good minutes tonight and helped with that. Randle obviously was the difference.”

(On C.J. Wilcox not getting going) “I think they did a good job of guarding him, but at the same time he missed some shots. Maybe rushed some shots. Might be the first time this year he was under double-figures, I don’t know. Give them a lot of credit. They worked hard.”

(On being forced to the perimeter offensively) “We’ve got to emphasize that we need to be more aggressive. This team was able to get to the foul-line early. We didn’t put enough pressure on them. We have to do a better job of doing it.”

(On Nigel Williams-Goss taking over late) “He did this against San DiegoState down the stretch, hit some 3s like that. He kept working, had a heck of a game. Seven rebounds, six assists, one turnover.”

(On Shawn Kemp’s game) “Last year around this time maybe is when he started playing like that. That’s what he’s capable of doing now that he has his strength back.”

(What do you take away from this trip?) “Four of six games on the road. 3-3. we didn’t totally stink it up. The Cal game, we did. But we came back, we played better tonight. Not good enough to get the win. I don’t know how much we take from it. We’ve just got to regroup and get back home.”

(Can you fix size disadvantage?) “Now that Shawn is back healthy and strong, him and Perris can play together more. Desmond did a good job, so we can play bigger when we need to.”

(Do you change the lineup?) “We’re not looking to change anything. We may adjust the minutes or that type of thing.”
