Yesterday was full of bits of different kinds of news, which we relayed on the blog and in today’s newspaper. Here are links to other stories with words and sentences about college students who play football.

Our story in today’s newspaper covered yesterday’s events.

— The UW men’s basketball team picked up a 73-62 victory at Tulane yesterday, then made a visit to the house of longtime political figure James Carville, who is a friend of UW athletic director Scott Woodward.

UW coach Lorenzo Romar said of the game that the Huskies “made it harder than it needed to be.”

— Some more on UW’s latest recruit to announce his intent to play for the Huskies — that’s terminology the likes of which Vince Grippi would certainly approve — and on a report that a former Boise State and Florida assistant will join Chris Petersen’s new coaching staff.

— The Seattle Times on UW’s bowl preparations.
