Now that Boise State has made its new football coaching hire — it’s Bryan Harsin, the former BSU offensive coordinator who coached most recently at Arkansas State — we should soon receive word from Washington regarding Chris Petersen’s new staff of assistant coaches.

Some of that news is already starting to leak out. Chadd Cripe of the Idaho Statesman reported on Twitter earlier today that running backs coach Keith Bhonapha, defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, offensive line coach Chris Strausser and defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake.

UW obviously doesn’t have a running backs coach (Johnny Nansen left for USC) or a defensive backs coach (Keith Heyward left, too) at the moment, so there are obviously openings there. Kwiatkowski was Boise State’s defensive coordinator, but it’s not known what his addition to Petersen’s staff (which has been reported before) means for Justin Wilcox. Petersen didn’t want to speculate or comment on any of that when he met with reporters on Monday, and neither did UW athletic director Scott Woodward.

Where does that leave UW offensive line coach Dan Cozzetto? Well, according to Dave “Softy” Mahler of KJR 950 AM …

For what it’s worth, there was an interesting report today from Justin Hopkins of 24/7 Sports. Not quite sure how to interpret the quotes in the story.

Lupoi was in the football offices on Monday, shortly after Petersen’s press conference. Both he and Wilcox were at UW’s end-of-season awards banquet on Sunday. A UW spokesperson said that “far as I know,” Lupoi is still on staff at UW.

— In other news, Bishop Sankey is in Orlando as a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, the winner of which will be announced during the college football awards show tomorrow. The participants had media availability today over there, and Sankey apparently said he’s “50-50″ on returning to UW vs. going pro.
