The Idaho Statesman reports that Boise State running backs coach and recruiting coordinator Keith Bhonapha has informed a recruit that he will join new coach Chris Petersen’s staff at Washington.

Chadd Cripe, who covers BSU for the Idaho Statesman, reported that Bhonapha told offensive line recruit Troy Bacon — who is committed to BSU — that he is leaving for UW.

Bacon was also apparently told by BSU offensive line coach Chris Strausser that unless he is hired as BSU’s new coach, he will also likely join Petersen at Washington.

Former UW running backs coach Johnny Nansen left to join the staff of Steve Sarkisian at USC, so there was obviously an opening there. Dan Cozzetto is currently UW’s offensive line coach.

We still need OL’s – probably still our weakest part of the squad. Real road graders/big uglies. Hopefully Peterson knows how to get locals to stay home, and also import a few. Bhonapha and Strausser might get that task accomplished. . . .
