It’s just another week for Cyler Miles.
At least, that’s what Washington’s redshirt freshman quarterback told reporters on Wednesday. He said the fact that he might make his first career start this week — Keith Price’s status is still in doubt due to his thumb injury — doesn’t change how he approaches practice.
“I try to prepare the same every week no matter what the outlook is,” Miles said after Wednesday’s practice. “I just do what I have to do every day and whatever happens, happens on Saturday.”
Miles said he’s been watching film with Price, the senior teaching the freshman the best way to break down defenses.
“It can be hard for a young guy to really know what you’re watching, (and can) kind of get lost in just watching a team and watching a good game,” Miles said. “… Keith does a great job with me, with those cut-ups, and we have a great time and learn a lot with it.”
Asked which skills he’s improved most as a second-year player, Miles said: “Skill-wise, probably just putting a little bit more zip on my ball. Still improving, still trying to work on deep balls, accuracy, footwork, all around. So, still improving.”
