Monday is a light day for quarterback work, Washington coach Steve Sarkisian said, but he thinks Keith Price’s banged-up thumb looked fine during the Huskies’ practice this morning.

Price played through the thumb injury against Stanford on Saturday, and Sarkisian said Monday that he was prepared to play backup Cyler Miles if Price’s inability to grip the football wound up negatively affecting him.

It didn’t.

“The one issue was just with the thumb, his ability to grip the football,” Sarkisian said, asked if Price was close to needing to come out after taking a number of hard hits from Stanford defenders. “But he continued to reassure us that he was fine. We were prepared to put Cyler in the game. Cyler felt good about it, but Keith just continued to reassure us he was fine and there was nothing in his play that made us think otherwise. He was making tremendous throws under distress.”

Sarkisian doesn’t seem to think the thumb issue will be anything serious enough to keep Price from playing against Oregon.

He practice, Sarkisian said, and “I think he’ll be fine come Saturday.”

Sarkisian added that “our entire roster was back on the field” for Monday’s practice.
