FROM STANFORD — Here’s a sampling of what some of the folks who cover college football are predicting tonight when the Huskies face Stanford. My call: Stanford 31, Washington 28, for reasons detailed in a previous post.

— Ted Miller of ESPN.com sees Stanford winning, 33-20, and writes that the Huskies “need to show the nation they’re ready for prime time.”

— In that same blog post, ESPN’s Kevin Gemmell writes that UW must prove itself on the road against an elite team to be truly believed in, and picks Stanford, 34-28.

— Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News writes that these are the kind of games Stanford is built to win, and Washington isn’t. He picks Stanford.

— Sports Illustrated’s Stewart Mandel writes that Stanford’s offensive line will wear the Huskies down, and takes the Cardinal, 31-23.

— Adam Jude of The Seattle Times picks Stanford, too, 28-24.

— You need an Insider subscription to see Phil Steele’s predicted final score, but the headline indicates that he, too, is picking Stanford.

— All six of the writers on CBS Sports’ prediction panel picked Stanford (as did the prediction machine). Two of them, however, did pick the Huskies to cover the 6.5-point spread.

— All six of the writers making picks for USA Today also predict Stanford will win.

— Dr. Saturday also takes Stanford and the points.
