Washington just released a statement about former coach Don James:

Long-time University of Washington football coach Don James is currently in Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and has undergone surgical treatment for gastro-intestinal issues. He was admitted on Monday.

Doctors have performed two surgical procedures on Coach James and believe that they were successful. Coach James remains in the hospital, resting comfortably.

Coach James’ family has asked for the UW to make this public to stem speculation and rumors. The family asks for the public to respect their privacy. The family also welcomes prayers for a full and speedy recovery.
