Katz says officials will now be able to go to the monitor immediately in the final four minutes to check if a basket is a 2- or 3-pointer, plus they can go to the monitor in the final two minutes to check out of bounds possession and shot-clock violations.
There will be costs to this “getting it right” approach. Namely, multiple free timeouts could be allowed for each team.
Gordon’s departure means ASU has lost two of its top three scorers from last season. Carrick Felix (14.6) graduated and now Gordon (10.1), who was also a solid defender. Jitterbug scorer Jahii Carson (18.5 ppg.) will be back, as is center Jordan Bachynski and forward Jonathan Gilling.
The main problem here for ASU coach Herb Sendek is finding someone to replace Gordon this late in the recruiting game.
