A public memorial for coaching icon Marv Harshman will be held Saturday, May 11, at 1 p.m. on the Marv Harshman Court in Hec Edmundson Pavilion.
A 90-minute ceremony will take place and speakers will include Washington head coach Lorenzo Romar, who played for Harshman. A reception in the concourse of Alaska Airlines Arena will immediately follow the ceremony.
The Harsman court is inside Hec Ed and used at times for practice. Harshman Court is located on the north side of Alaska Airlines Arena. General parking is available at the E-1 parking lot located north of the arena.
Harshman was a standout coach at Pacific Lutheran College, Washington State and Washington. Prior, he was an exceptional athlete for the Lutes and at Seattle’s Lake Stevens High School.
He’s a member of the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame, Washington Huskies Hall of Fame, Pac-10 Hall of Fame, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and National College Basketball Hall of Fame, among others.
Harshman died April 12. He was 95.
