Well, that’s more like it.
The Pac-12 put five schools into the tournament this year after having just two sneak in last season.
> Arizona is a No. 6 seed and will face very dangerous and 11th-seeded Belmont in the second round in the West Region on Thursday.
> No. 6-seed UCLA will face No. 11-seed Minnesota on Friday in Austin in the South Region. Immediate thought there is the soft interior defense of UCLA will have a problem with ferocious Trevor Mbakwe and the Gophers.
> Colorado is a 10 seed and will take on seventh-seeded Illinois in Austin on Friday. That’s a push.
> 12th-seeded Cal will face UNLV in San Jose on Thursday. Cal point guard Justin Cobbs already told reporters, “It’s basically like a home game for us.”
> Oregon is a 12 seed and will play fifth-seeded Oklahoma State in the first round on Thursday in San Jose. Oregon being seeded so low indicates the Ducks would have been on the bubble if they hadn’t won the Pac-12 Tournament. A loss to Washington could have kept them out of the tournament, it appears.
> Gonzaga ended up a No. 1 seed in the West Region and plays in Salt Lake City to start things off.
