Morning football links: Trufant into the first round?

That’s what CBS’ Rob Rang thinks. He projects Desmond Trufant to be drafted 24th overall by the Indianapolis Colts.

Rang has been high on Trufant since prior to the Senior Bowl, but says Trufant’s performance there has upped his stock.

Rang writes: “Despite starting 49 games with at Washington over the past four seasons, Trufant participated in the Senior Bowl, where he, like his older brother Marcus did back in 2003 as a Washington State Cougar, staked his claim as the best pure cover corner of his draft class.”

> Stanford quarterback Josh Nunes, who struggled last season and was eventually replaced, will miss spring football because of an undisclosed “workout” injury, according to head coach David Shaw. Shaw said Nunes will be wearing a sling, but would not specify the injury. He’s expected to be the Cardinal backup.

> CBS columnist Dennis Dodd wonders if the new rule that will cause players to be ejected for hitting above the head will change the culture of the game.
