Gamethread: Arizona 57, Washington 53

Welcome to Hec Ed where we already have on significant change to start the evening for Washington’s game against eighth-ranked Arizona. Gamethread on the jump:

> Arizona wins 57-53 to send Washington to its fourth consecutive loss. Huskies are now 12-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

> Under-4 timeout and Wilcox is going to the line to shoot 3 after Nick Johnson fouls him. Arizona leads 50-48 with 3:05 to go. Kemp looks tired.

> First 3 of the night goes down for Wilcox, crowd gets up, Arizona calls TO. 48-46 Washington with 4:31 to go.

> At the under-8 timeout and it’s 44-39 Arizona. Washington outscored 13-4 since Wilcox left with his fourth.

> Washington limps into the under-12 timeout in foul trouble and trailing 37-35 now. Wilcox has four fouls. He picked up his fourth when trying to block a shot on the break. Kemp also has three fouls with 11:50 to go.

> Only 8,535 here tonight. Washington clinging to the lead, up 33-31 with 15:34 to go. C.J. Wilcox is 3-for-11 from the field and having a hard time getting it going. Washington is 1-for-6 from the field this half.

> Arizona doesn’t even get a shot to close the half and Hill is left standing with the ball 28 feet from the hoop when the horn goes off. Washington leads 28-23 at the half after a late surge. Wilcox and Gaddy have six points apiece. The teams have combined for 22 turnovers.

> Under-timeout and we’ve had a major slowdown here. Washington leads 22-21 after Arizona grabbed its first lead of the game, 21-20, when Tarczewski hit two free throws. The teams have combined for 19 turnovers.

> Under-8 timeout and Washington leads 20-13 with 7:30. Arizona has 10 turnovers and averages 13.7 per game on the season.

> Andrews gimping a bit, but has enough to get right in front of Lyons. 16-5 Washington at the under-12 timeout. Andrews was dinged by a screen on his way by. Washington off to an optimal start. Loudest crowd of the year, mostly because of the students. Washington is 8-for-13 from the field early. Arizona has seven turnovers in eight minutes.

> Under-16 timeout and Washington leads 10-3. Arizona has four turnovers early and Kemp has six points.

> Kemp lays it in, place goes bonkers, timeout Arizona. Washington leads 8-2. Kemp has four early and Washington is engaged, and, once again, looks like a totally different team than played Utah are OSU.

> Stands certainly not full at tip-off. Tough to get here for a 6 p.m. tip-off, no matter the opponent.

> Everyone lines up for the tip, then back into huddles at their respective benches as we wait for TV.

> Washington has made a change to the starting lineup. Shawn Kemp Jr. will make his first career start for the Huskies, replacing Desmond Simmons. Washington opting for offense at the power forward spot tonight. The other starter, Abdul Gaddy, C.J. Wlcox, Scott Suggs, and Aziz N’Diaye. Arizona will go with Mark Lyons, Nick Johnson, Solomon Hill, Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski.
