After being fired by Washington following the 2011 Alamo Bowl, former defensive coordinator Nick Holt has a new full-time gig.
Western Kentucky announced Holt as its new defensive coordinator on Wednesday. The Hiltoppers had already gone out on a limb to hire Bobby Petrino, who was fired by Arkansas for a slew of ignorant things, before hiring Holt.
“Nick is now another guy on our staff that has a national championship ring on his finger and has experience at all levels of coaching,” Petrino said in a press release. “He is a great motivator and is a very enthusiastic, high-energy guy that will add a lot of excitement and toughness to our defense moving forward.”
Holt was linebackers coach when USC won the national title in 2003.
Also interesting in the press release is the timeline. Holt’s years at Washington are referenced, but only his time at USC is expounded on. They forgot to mention the Huskies set a school record for points allowed in his final season as the DC.
