Non-conference play wrapped up today with Oregon State waxing Texas Pan-American 84-59 and Oregon beating Nevada 56-43. Now, it’s time for conference play.
Only one Pac-12 team had a sub-.500 record in non-conference play, and that was USC, which has been a mess. Head coach Kevin O’Neill likely has to show some rapid improvement in order to keep his job. Washington, at 8-5, has the second-worst record in the conference. It can point to three games: Albany, Nevada and UConn, which it has an easy argument that those should have been wins instead of losses. The trouble with “should have” is that it’s a synonym for “didn’t.”
