There are multiple reports, including this one from footballscoop.com, that wide receivers coach Jimmie Dougherty is leaving Washington to become the offensive coordinator at San Jose State.

The Spartans just hired Ron Caragher as their new head coach just more than a week ago. Dougherty worked two seasons under Caragher at the University of San Diego.

Two days ago, Washington running backs coach Joel Thomas left to take the same position at Arkansas. That leaves just offensive line coach Dan Cozzetto and assistant head coach/recruiting/special teams Johnny Nansen from head coach Steve Sarkisian’s original coaching staff.

It’s an interesting shift for Washington. Sarkisian lauded the continuity of staff the first three seasons on the job before last season’s large overhaul of the defensive staff. During the first three seasons, Sarkisian often said how difficult it was to keep assistants. He’ll be heading into his fifth season with almost an entirely new staff from when he started.

Getting out while he still can,..err umm,..has a choice in the matter considering they will probably all be gone after one more year of hell.
