Just wrapped up here with Steve Sarkisian at his Monday press conference. Some news, notes and thoughts:

> Sarkisian said he’s looking forward to Saturday when the seniors will be honored at their last home game, Washington will honor its Olympians from the London games and will have Veterans Day activities, as well.

> In referencing Utah’s defensive line anchored by Star Lotululei, Sarkisian said with admiration, “they’ve got some goons up front.”

> He said he didn’t agree with half of the penalties called against Washington against Cal. He also said eight of the 30-most penalized teams in college football heading into last weekend played in the Pac-12. Sarkisian said he told his team that if everyone is being called for several penalties and the playing field is level, that’s all they could ask for.

> When asked about Danny Shelton’s tackle on Zach Maynard on the play Maynard was hurt, Sarkisian said he “just tackled the guy” and hadn’t heard any suggestions that it was an inappropriate play.

> He said Keith Price threw three passes Saturday against Cal, two to Austin Seferian-Jenkins and one to Kasen Williams, that were balls to just give them a chance and they caught all three.

> Sarkisian reiterated that Shaq Thompson would make a pretty good running back, but that he was not going to be moved to offense any time soon. He also said Thompson’s closing speed has helped the entire defense and that he wished he would be able to use him on kick returns more, but that an ankle injury has been nagging Thompson for weeks now.

> Sarkisian said he wasn’t sure prior to the season if Bishop Sankey could handle 30 carries in a game, but that he had 29 Friday night then won every “gasser” drill Sunday during conditioning.

> Sarkisian said it doesn’t bother the team much that it practices early in the morning all week, then ends up consistently playing at night. He did say people get antsy in the hotel all day Saturday.

> Utah kick returner Reggie Dunn returned a kick 100 yards for a touchdown for the fourth time in his career on Saturday against Washington State. It was the third time in two weeks that Dunn has returned a kick 100 yards for a touchdown. Obviously, it’s something Sarkisian said Washington needs to be aware of and prepared for.
