It will be a little smaller practice report since I missed a little bit of it earlier because I was covering the hoops stuff.

Quickly, head coach Steve Sarkisian was very pleased about today’s effort calling it one of today’s best practice. There were big plays all around from the offense and defense.

Both KeithPrice and Derrick Brown looked extremely sharp today. Brown hit Cody Bruns on a long pass through the air that basically was an 75-yard touchdown pass. Price also hit a few deep passes to Austin Seferian-Jenkins and a 25-yard completion to Kevin Smith, who saw the most 11-on-11 action he’s seen all fall camp.

While Brown took heavy reps with the second team and appears to have taken a lead in the back-up QB race, Sarkisian wasn’t ready to name him the back-up. And he said he probably won’t officially name one to the media.

Shaq Thompson continued to see plenty of reps with the first team as the extra defensive back. Will Shamburger stayed as the first-team safety with Sean Parker.

Perhaps the biggest news of practice was that almost everybody was suited up and in full gear, including Erik Kohler (knee), Justin Glenn (concussion), Thomas Tutogi (knee). All three had been sidelined and not dressing out.

Let’s go through the list …

OL Erik Kohler (knee) — dressed out, participated in early work, no team contact drills

LB Thomas Tutogi (knee) — dressed out, participated in early work, no team contact drills

LB Travis Feeney (concussion) — did not dress out per NCAA rules. He will be in yellow no contact jersey on Tuesday

LB Princeton Fuimaono (hamstring) — dressed out, participated in early work, no team drills

LB Taz Stevenson (concussion) — full participation, taking reps at second-team outside linebacker

WR Kevin Smith (knee) — wore the yellow no contact jersey, participated in 11-on-11 drills

S Justin Glenn (concussion) — dressed out and was a full go, took reps with the second team defense.

CB Tre Watson (undisclosed) — dressed out and was taking full reps with the No. 1 defense at cornerback

K Travis Coons (leg soreness) — dressed out, but did not do any kicking

DE Hau’oli Jamora (knee) — did not dress out

WR James Johnson (wrist) — was back at practice with his arm and wrist immobilized

LB Nate Fellner (foot) — at practice on crutches

LB Jamaal Kearse (leg) — was not at practice
