After much debate in the days leading up to the NBA draft about the possibility of Tony Wroten falling out of the first round, the Husky freshman guard realized his dream of being a first round draft pick. The Memphis Grizzlies selected Wroten with the 25th pick of the first round.

Wroten averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He had a freshman record 66 steals.

Wroten joins former Husky Quincy Pondexter on the Grizzlies.

  1. mojjonation says:

Jason Kidd and Rajon Rondo are just two names of guys who couldn’t shoot when they came out of college and somehow managed to make it. They may not have been as bad as Wroten, but they had the same issue. Time will tell.

That may be the only time I’ve ever seen Tony Wroten mentioned in the same context as Rajon Rondo or Jason Kidd…for good reason. Wroten’s got talent, no question, but there’s a lot more to basketball than just showing up on time. As you say, time will tell.
