Steve Sarkisian talks with KJR

Husky head coach Steve Sarkisian joined Dave “Softy” Mahler today for an interview.

Nothing earth shattering from the interview. Sark did say that his staff “tinkered” with the idea of holding fall camp off campus because of the space restrictions caused by the construction of the new Husky Stadium.

Sarkisian also said he felt like the team should have been 9-4 this past season. He pointed to the losses to Oregon State and Baylor as games the Huskies should have won.

Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten invited to NBA draft combine in Chicago

While the NFL combine gets all the hype, the NBA has also started a draft combine as well. The event will run on June 7-8 in Chicago and has 60 participants including Washington’s Terrence Ross and Tony Wroten. The only other player from the Pac-12 invited is Jared Cunningham of OSU. Jorge Gutierrez of Cal did not get an invite.

ESPN’s Chad Ford mentions Ross could be player that gains some steam after the organized NBA workouts that started this past week in New Jersey.

A few Monday links

Greetings! It’s been  a while since I posted. Thanks for  the patience as I had to step away from the blog for a week. Of course, we aren’t exactly in the busy time of year. The links are a little thin. But I will try posting some “original” content again starting this week.

First, congrats to the UW softball team which advanced to the NCAA super regionals on Sunday, defeating Harvard in the title game of the Seattle Regional of the NCAA tourney. The Huskies will travel to Berkley to face No. 1 Cal in a three game series

What’s the Rush? He is Pac-12′s new basketball officiating director

Larry Scott, commissioner of the Pacific-12 Conference, announced today that Ed Rush will join the conference as the league’s coordinator of men’s basketball officiating. The long-time National Basketball Association’s Director of Officiating is currently one of the NBA’s recruiting and development directors for officials.

“I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of Ed’s experience and expertise to lead our officiating program,” Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said. “He has been an expert and leader at all levels of basketball officiating, and the training program he developed for us is considered state-of-the-art. Husky assistant hoops coach Paul Fortier, WSU’s Davonte Lacy will represent US in East Asia

University of Washington assistant coach Paul Fortier will get his chance to lead a team as a head coach. The longtime Husky assistant will lead a group of players from the United States into East Asia to play a series of games against top professional teams.

“I’m looking forward to this experience of coaching this team and experiencing the culture of East Asia, a part of the world I have not seen,” Fortier said in a press release.
