Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports is reporting that recently hired defensive line coach and recruiting whiz Tosh Lupoi has been pulled off the road from spring recruiting after committing a secondary NCAA violation.

From the story …

According to the school, the secondary violation occurred when Lupoi, widely considered one of the best recruiters in college football, publicized the visit of a prospective student-athlete who ultimately did not commit to UW by confirming information about the recruit to members of the Dawg Pack student section at a men’s basketball game.

A school spokesman declined to go into specifics about just how long Lupoi was taken off the road for this spring but added that the coach’s absence on the road was all related to this specific violation, and nothing further. Typically, assistant coaches spend almost the entire month of the evaluation period out on the road visiting schools.

Here’s the official statement from UW …

As a self-imposed sanction resulting from a self-reported, secondary violation, the UW limited Tosh Lupoi’s recruiting evaluations during the spring period. The secondary violation occurred when Tosh publicized the visit of a prospective student-athlete who ultimately did not commit to UW by confirming information about the recruit to members of the Dawg Pack student section at a men’s basketball game.
