And so it begins. Thankfully, I don’t have an AP Top 25 vote for football (that belongs to Condotta). Why? Because it’s a huge pain and usually leads to second guessing and criticism by fans of schools that are in it (never ranked high enough, or my rival team is ranked higher and shouldn’t be), or those teams’ fans that aren’t (how are we not in there, but that team is).
But we are fast approaching the time where preseason Top 25 rankings will start to appear.
Sports Illustrated’s excellent college football writer Andy Staples offers up his post-spring football Top 25 and the Washington Huskies are ranked 23rd in the poll. I don’t disagree with Staples’ decision to put UW in, but I don’t completely agree either. The Huskies have a lot of growing to do on the offensive line over the summer for me to believe they are sure Top 25 team. But the other pieces are in place. So if that improves, the Huskies should be solid.
