Besides the spring game on Saturday, it was junior weekend at Washington with a myriad of players that Steve Sarkisian and his staff are actively recruiting for 2013. It’s a big event and showcase for the schools. And as often is the case, the Huskies picked up a three verbal commitments following the weekend. They will join Lakes’ Sammie Long and Tumwater’s Jamie Bryant, who committed earlier.

On Saturday, Bellevue linebacker Sean Constantine committed to the Huskies. Constantine is rated a three-star recruit by Scout and 20th best linebacker in the country …. Rivals.com rates him as a four-star recruit and the 15th best linebacker in the country.

From the Scout.com story (subscription needed).

“It was the family atmosphere,” said Constantine. “The overall feeling that I got with the staff, not that other schools didn’t like me, but that they had a passion for me. I didn’t meet a single bad coach at UW.”

ESPN, which also rates Constantine as a four-star player, has this highlight video of him.

Defensive back Derek Babiash of Poway, Calif., also committed to the Huskies before leaving Seattle. Babiash is a four-star recruit according to Scout.com and the 24th rated corner back in the country.  Rivals.com  rates Babiash as a three-star player and the 34th rated cornerback. He had offers from Oklahoma, Nebraska and most Pac-12 schools.

Here’s some more video of Babiash.

On Sunday, the Huskies got a much needed offensive line commitment as center Dane Crane out of Rancho Santa Margarita High School committed. Scout.com rates Crane as a three-star prospect and the eighth best center in the country. Rivals.com also rates Crane as a three-star recruit and the fourth best center in the country.

When are the Huskies and Cougars going to start attracting the 5 star players that really make the difference? Sure with this kind of talent they can compete but they will never be elite.

  2. thank you for the Babiash video…kid looks like a playmaker.

Great commits! Super job recruiting by Sarks & Co luring those boys from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida State, etc. They are listed as Rising 3 Stars–wouldn’t be surprised if at the end of their season they are ranked as
    4-star athletes. GoHuskies!

timidtim, The VAST majority of 5 star recruits DO NOT commit this early!

  5. Thanks bbnate420, I was going to post the same comment. While 5-star guys make the class look fantastic, you still three-star guys to give it depth. It’s just a matter of the coaching staff making three-star guys into something more.

These are all verbal commits lets see who actually signs next February before you get to pumped up.

  7. Exactly, Palerydr, I only kind of blog about them at first. No reason to change them. You remember what last year was like with committing, de-comitting and re-committing

  8. Palerydr says:

Yes I do and I understand they are young men with alot of pressure put on them. So if these guys de-commit at some point I won’t get too upset.
