The shocker? Chris Polk, the University of Washington’s second all-time leading rusher, was not drafted Saturday by any NFL team in seven rounds.

Questions about degenerative conditions in his hip and shoulder arose, Polk denied both.

Not so shocking? Apparently he will still be headed to the NFL.

According to media reports in the last hour quoting agent Steve Caric, Polk is headed to the Philadelphia Eagles as a free-agent signee.

There might be opportunity for him there: Although All-Pro LeSean McCoy is firmly entrenched as the starting tailback, he does not have much solid behind him. Dion Lewis is undersized and unproven. Graig Cooper was signed as a free agent in 2011, and was on and off the roster. And on Saturday, the Eagles drafted Kansas State running back Bryce Brown in the seventh round.

Besides Polk, wide receivers Jermaine Kearse and Devin Aguilar also went undrafted and signed free agent contracts. Kearse stayed close to home and signed with the Seahawks, while Aguilar signed with the Tennessee Titans will be reunited with Jake Locker.
