ASU Head Coach Herb Sendek

On the game

I think our guys had really good intentions; our hearts were in the right place. Obviously that spurt at the end of the first half really hurt us. I know it’s a broken record, but it’s been the same problem for us; turnovers. We had 19 turnovers in the game, which helps to fuel their transition game. The second thing that has become a constant for us is free throw shooting. We’re struggling to stay above 60% in the conference, and tonight we were 11-21 from the line. Although Washington is a really good offensive rebounding team, and tonight we broke even with them on the boards, they got too many second chance points. I think they finished with 14 in the game.  You have to credit Washington; they are a very talented team. Wroten, Ross, Wilcox are really good players and they did a good job.

On getting down early

We were down 24 early, but it was good to fight back. We had a really good week of practice and I thought the guys have been working extremely hard. They kept battling out there, if it weren’t for the turnovers we could have been a lot better.

On the starting lineup change

We’ve been changing the starters a lot. We’re basing it on what we see in practice. Sometimes it’s that we just look at the team and see who we think can settle in. We’ve been a team that can have any number of starting lineups this year.
