First of all, Tony Wroten was on with Mitch in the Morning today.

He talks about his game, about how polarizing he is among basketball fans, going to the NBA after one year, his free throw shooting.

WASHINGTON (12-7, 5-2 PACIFIC-12) AT ARIZONA STATE (6-13, 2-5)

5:30 p.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe, AZ

TV: ROOT sports. Radio: 950-AM/102.9-FM

Series: The two teams first met in 1978 and have played 72 games since then with each team winning 36 apiece. Washington has beaten ASU seven of the eight times it has traveled to Tempe. Over the last 18 games, the Huskies have compiled a 16-3 record against the Sun Devils. Head coach Lorenzo Romar is 16-5 as Washington’s head coach against ASU.

Scouting report: Both teams will likely be without key contributors. Washington shooting guard C.J. Wilcox tweeted that he is hoping to play a few minutes today against ASU. However, he will have to pass a series of tests on his left leg to see if the stress fracture in his femur is healthy enough to go. Even without Wilcox, the Huskies should be able take care of a wounded Sun Devils team, even if it is a road game. ASU has been racked by injuries and other issues. Head coach Herb Sendek booted leading scorer Keala King off the team a few weeks ago for “unacceptable conduct.” And then two weeks ago, Arizona State’s new leading scorer Trent Lockett suffered a badly sprained ankle. Sendek told local media in Tempe that it is unlikely that Lockett, who also leads the team in rebounding, will not be able to play. That leaves the Sun Devils short on depth and scoring. ASU got handled by Utah without Lockett. The Huskies can expect Arizona State to play a deliberate style of basketball, working the clock and limiting the number of possessions in the game. As always, Sendek’s team will play a mixture of zone defenses and will pack it in the key, daring Washington to shoot perimeter jump shots.
