Senior shooting guard Scott Suggs, who has yet to play a game this season, has decided to redshirt this year and return for next season – hopefully healthy.
Head coach Lorenzo Romar made the announcement over a conference call just a little big ago.
Suggs suffered a stress fracture in his foot in the first official practice of the season and has yet to play. His comeback from the surgery was tedious. He was supposed to see his first action on the court tomorrow against Duke.
As a senior, Suggs didn’t want to play half of a year and wanted to have a full senior season. With a redshirt available, it was his choice. Romar said he was surprised at the decision.
The guard position is pretty crowded, but with Terrence Ross expected to enter the NBA draft next season, Suggs would be there to fill his role.
