Here’s the transcript of Steve Sarkisian’s conference call with local media. Sarkisian is out recruiting somewhere.

On practice schedule:

“We are going to practice Saturday and Sunday of this weekend and then we’ll be back to practice again the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then be off for three more days and come back to work on the 15th and make that as it if were a game week so we’d go the 15-16-17-18 and 19th and then be off.”

Noon hoops: Duke gets handled by Ohio State, Arizona survives in Las Cruces

Washington will play the Duke Blue Devils next Saturday in New York City. Obviously, the Huskies have larger concerns, like upcoming games at Nevada and against Marquette also in NYC. Those games are far from guaranteed wins. In fact, if Washington were somehow to go 2-3 over this stretch, and it would be a huge accomplishment. If they play anywhere like they did against St. Louis, they will not only go 0-3, but they will get hammered.

Last night, the No. 3  Blue Devils went into Columbus and were handled by No. 2 Ohio State. The Buckeyes took control of the game early and never let it go. Now before you go thinking that this loss shows that Duke is somehow more vulnerable than before, think again.

Cougars fire head coach Paul Wulff

In a move that most people saw coming, head coach Paul Wulff was fired as head coach at Washington State University. Wulff took over for Bill Doba, who was fired after the 2007 season, and inherited a mess of a program with discipline issues, a lack of depth and talent and a general apathy among the players.

He slowly tried to rebuild the program from scratch, forgoing the quick fix of junior college players, instead trying to build it into a self-sustaining program with strong high school-based recruiting classes.

Noon hoops: The Pac-12 goes 4-0 for the night

It seems impossible to believe considering the last few weeks. But there were were four Pac-12 teams in action last night and all four came away with wins. Of course, three of the teams were pretty weak.

For head coach Tad Boyle and his Colorado Buffaloes, they pick up a nice win over Georgia. At this blog, we love it any time Georgia head coach Mark Fox loses.
