The Huskies and Beavers will each arrive at Hec Edmundson Pavilion tomorrow with players still buzzing from memorable dunks.

Against Oregon on Thursday, 5-foot-8 junior Isaiah Thomas finished a breakaway with the first dunk of his Husky career.

“I have been waiting a long time for it,” Thomas said. “I always tell people, ‘If I get a fastbreak, I’m going to dunk one;’ but I’ve been too scared to miss. But this time I said, ‘Well, oh well. I’m just going to try.’”

While that dunk drew smiles locally, Oregon State’s Jared Cunningham dropped jaws across the country last week with his one-handed put-back stuff of a teammate’s miss down the stretch against Arizona.

(Here’s a link to video of the dunk, including Kevin Calabro’s unmistakable call.)

“From a program standpoint it got us a lot of notoriety, so that was terrific,” OSU coach Craig Robinson said. “… I think that helps us from a confidence standpoint.”
