Though sweet and soft-spoken off the field, Benji Olson trampled all over the biggest of teenagers while at South Kitsap High, and did the same thing in the Pacific-10 Conference when he played at the University of Washington (1995-98).

That toughness served him well, too, for 152 games as an offensive guard in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans (1998-2007), including the 2000 Super Bowl.

Next month, the UW will honor Olson, along with Tin Frimpong (women’s soccer), Kristina Kraszewski (tennis), Eldridge Recasner (basketball), Jennifer Speciacci (fastpitch) and the 2005 NCAA Division I-winning women’s volleyball team as inductees into the 2010 Husky Hall of Fame.

The class of former greats will be inducted as a ceremony Oct. 29 at Hec Ednumdson Pavilion.
