A tripping call to start the third quarter on the Huskies halted their first drive, and BYU scored 10 points to take a lead into the fourth quarter of a back-and-forth affair at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Kearse appeared to have a first down on third-and-10 at the Cougars’ 46, along the left sideline, but the UW was sent back 15 yards on the penalty.

After a field goal, BYU took a 23-17 lead on Riley Nelson’s 48-yard pass to running back J.J. Di Luigi along the right seam. Nobody was in sight as he rumbled 35 yards of the score with 4:23 to go.

After that first drive, the closest the UW has gotten past midfield is its own 36.
