Don’t think Heisman Trophy campaigns start in July – they began months ago, with this scheduled trip east for University of Washington Jake Locker.

Locker, the senior from Ferndale, leaves Seattle on Sunday morning to visit East Coast media.

The trip starts with a day-long stay at ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn. He’ll be on the “Mike and Mike” radio show at 6:40 a.m. PDT, and then on with Doug Gottlieb at 1:25 p.m. PDT.

At 10:30 a.m. PDT, Locker will sit down for a live chat on ESPN.com., plus tape more shows, commercial spots, etc.

On Tuesday, Locker is scheduled to hold lunch interview in New York City with that area’s media corps. Later that day, it’s a trip to Sports Illustrated headquarters before heading home.

Daily updates of Locker’s trip can be found at gohuskies.com and also at twitter.com/uwsportsnews

I remember when they did this with Chris Chandler, I also remember the let down that season was and how bad his Heisman run was. I’d rather have wins than Heisman.
